Welcome to our new Make it Monday series! From now on the All That Scraps Design Team will show you a tutorial every Monday. The whole DT is really excited and I guess today I'm the most excited girl because I will start Make it Monday and want to show you how to mask images.
There is a range of scene images from e.g. C.C. Designs Swiss Pixies and C.C. Designs Sugarplums images and with the masking technique you can combine images to let them look like one stamp/scene.
masking
If you want to mask or make a scene you need:
stamps (I used Swiss Pixies Pixie Lucy and Swiss Pixies Woodland Mushroom)
an ink pad (here I used the Memento Rich Cocoa pad)
paper to stamp on
masking tape, eclipse tape roll, or thin paper
scissors
Ink up the image you want in front of/on top of the other image and stamp it to your paper. I want to stamp Pixie Lucy sitting on Woodland Mushroom so I have to stamp Lucy first.
Stamp the same image to the masking tape and cut the image out.
Place your mask over your main image.
Now ink up the second image and stamp it over your masked image. If you want you can also use a stamp positioner for this step.
Remove your mask (left) and you have built a new image with two stamps (right).
It's so easy to stamp little scenes with the masking technique. Just try it yourself and enjoy all the new options you have with two or more stamps.
Have a wonderful day,
Jay Jay

wow, so simple and amazing too! In a pinch could you sub the masking paper for maybe parchment paper or wax paper?

Hi Shannon - I would think parchment paper and wax paper would slip easily and leave you unhappy with the results... thin copy paper would work but you would still need to hold it in place...the masking paper that Christine sells at ATS is awesome! The light adhesive is already on it. You keep it and re-use it... no need to keep making the same mask!!! Makes for happy stamping! hehe
