When we put up a real tree, we put it up around the 2nd week of December. The last few we got were too prickly (I needed gloves to put the lights on!). They didn't want to stay up in the stand and after a frustrating time of trying to get them to stay up, they got heaved out the back door into the snow. We have been using an artificial tree the past two years, and put it up just after Thanksgiving.
