October Preview Day One

Can you believe it is October already?  This year is flying by.  I hope you enjoyed last months projects.  Are you ready for some fun?  Today we are previewing new Meoples, snowmen and a reindeer.  :)  Christine illustrated these and they are just adorable.  Amy R has new sentiment stamps.  There is tons of sentiments and other stamps and dies to choose from this month.  What will your favorite be?  :)

Design Team Make It Monday -- Raised Banner tutorial

Did I confuse you with my title?!  Yes, I know it's Sunday, not Monday but as we are starting a week of our October previews tomorrow, I shifted my MIM slot to today!

So, it's Mary J here with a quick tutorial on how to make a raised banner like this...

 

What you need is the sentiment you want to use and a two ended fishtail banner.  I used a die, but if you don't have one then you can follow my tutorial here to create your own.

So after I stamped my sentiment onto the centre of my banner, I score two lines on one side of the sentiment.  I use my Score-Pal to do this and you can just about see the score lines in the picture below...

I then turn the sentiment upside down and score at the same place, obviously so that it's on the other side of the sentiment, as highlighted by the black arrow in the picture below...

I then crease at the folds to create the raised banner which you can see better in this photo here...

All that is left to do is to stick it on to your project!  Here is my finished card using with the raised banner and using Mashi's Muffins Farmer Fran and a AmyR Stamps Many Thanks sentiment...

Customer Show n' tell

Today we are showing off Kitty's project.  I love her attention to detail on this.  The paper is fabulous and her colors are beautiful. Design Team Make It Monday -- Mini Banners Die

Hello everyone!  Eva here and it's my first post on the All That Scraps blog.  I feel like I'm kind of sneaking in or something.  It doesn't quite feel real still.  I wanted to share how to make banners hang on a piece of twine or thread instead of just gluing them straight onto the twine. 

First of all, I gently took apart the dies since they all come connected.  

 

I cut a piece of paper that is a bit wider than the die and fold it so it's also longer than the die as well.

 

Place the die like above and add some removeable tape to keep the die from moving.  I have a bit of the die hanging over the folded edge.  That's the part I don't want to cut.

 

 On the other side, it looks like above.  Run it through your die cut machine.

 

The die cut should come out like this.  I have cut a bunch of them to hang onto my twine.

 

I added some double sided tape and twine in between each banner die cut.

 

 I could tie them up onto some skewers and have them hang so they don't fall off and it is easier than waiting for them to dry with just glue. 

I love to use my dies in a variety of ways.  Even though these are banners, you could use them to create flowers by layering the banners around in a circle, create a sun, make a double ended fishtail banner or even create a pumpkin face for a Halloween treat.

I used some simple orange cups and added a face using the pieces from the mini banners die.

 

I hope this inspires you to think of different ways to use your dies!  Thanks so much for reading!
